The No Fly List
There are some use cases for Immersion that we will not support.
If you are on this list, we are happy to recommend a different solution.
Immersion is a very powerful tool that should be used from a place of love
Knowing how your audience's brains value an experience and being able to predict their actions 8 out of 10 times is a superpower.
But, with great power comes great responsibility.
As Immersion has grown, we have had many companies come to us wanting to use Immersion with the goal of manipulating people or even using it in hiring/firing decisions.
We think this is wrong. We have refused deals and fired customers because of our strong belief in this principle.
After discussion with the team, we decided to publish a list of the industries and use cases we will not support. If your business is in this list, we will not sell to you.
I am sure some of our decisions will upset people. Sorry about that.
There are plenty of other options in the market for these industries or use cases, and we are happy to recommend them to a competitor.
We want to measure what the world loves, so that we all can create more of it. For those that want to create fear or use Immersion to undermine the agency of our fellow humans: go send a survey.

The No Fly List
Weapons Manufacturers
Any company that profits from the sale of weapons designed to harm people.
Hate Groups
Any organization that advocates and practices hatred, hostility, or violence towards members of a race, ethnicity, nation, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or any other designated sector of society.
Tobacco & Vaping
Companies that sell or distribute tobacco or vaping products where their primary use of Immersion would be to increase usage of their product.
Political Campaigns
Government is important, but Immersion should not be used by political campaigns for the persuasion of people or identification of messaging designed to alienate or classify voters.
Social Media Feeds
We are very proud of the work we have done with social media companies, however, we will not allow the use of Immersion to directly influence media feeds where the goal is to generate "addictive" audience behavior.
Employee Firing
We will refuse to work with any company that intends to use Immersion as a primary tool to identify or fire employees.
Dishonesty
Immersion is not a lie detector and cannot function in that manor. Immersion, by its very nature, cannot operate in a way that purports to render an opinion on the honesty or dishonesty of a person. Because of our strong belief in neuroprivacy, we will refuse to work with any company that attempts to use Immersion in this way.
While this is a good place to start, there may be other use cases and industries that we decide avoid in the future. This list should not be interpreted as the only industries or use cases we will refrain from serving. Each case will be considered privately and in isolation.
