A blind study with BBDO proved that Immersion could predict market success of advertising content with repeatable and robust results. BBDO sent us 18 ads they had created for six clients, three ads per client. The brands were quite varied: Snickers, Cesar dog food, AT&T, Visa, Guinness beer, and Bud Light.
In order to understand what makes TED talks great, we examined the longest and deepest moments of peak immersion. Across the seven talks, we found 18 peak immersion periods of >24 seconds. These varied from one peak moment for Brené Brown to five for Tony Robbins.
A 10% increase in immersion results in 16% more online views of a talk.
Immersion predicted the number of Spotify streams one month after song release with 92% accuracy and Shazam lookups with 72% accuracy. Our analysis showed that a 10% increase in peak immersion will produce nearly 5,000 more streams of the song on Spotify and 8.5% more Shazam lookups.
